Biography

Harold M Stokes, MD has joined Pontchartrain Orthopedics and Sports Medicine adding the subspecialty of Hand Surgery to the group. Dr. Stokes is a graduate of Occidental College, Los Angeles, California. Following graduation from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine, he completed an internship at Los Angeles County General Hospital and then did military service as a flight surgeon in the United States Navy. Specialty training included an Orthopaedic Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan and then two fellowships in Surgery of the Hand in Derby, England and in New Orleans. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds Certification in Hand Surgery as well. He is a Member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and also the American Association for Hand Surgery. He has held teaching appointments at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and is a past Chief of Staff at East Jefferson General Hospital.
