All four of the clinic's surgeons are board-certified and are some of the most accomplished orthopedists in the Greater New Orleans area.

Sports Injuries & Musculoskeletal Treatment

Playing recreational or professional sports can be fun, satisfying, and a great way to stay in shape. Unfortunately, even the best athletes fall victim to sports injuries. The experienced team of orthopedic surgeons at Pontchartrain Orthopedics and Sports Medicine get you back in your running shoes, on the court, in the saddle, on the diamond, or in your helmet, after a sports injury.

Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy & Joint Replacement Experts
The orthopedic surgeons at Pontchartrain Orthopedics & Sports Medicine specialize in the care of the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, nerves, and related structures of the body. All orthopedic problems from the neck down to the feet of both adults and children are treated.

The Pontchartrain Orthopedics & Sports Medicine's fully staffed physical therapy department is on call to help athletes, and anyone else requiring orthopedic treatment, to get back on their feet and back in the game as soon as possible.

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) Treatment

One of the most commonly occurring sports injuries requiring orthopedic surgery and a significant amount of recovery time is an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear. ACL tears, caused by overextending the ligament in the knee usually during a twisting movement or sudden stop, are known to cause intense knee pain. While athletes are more susceptible to tearing the ACL, older and non–active patients can also experience the injury.

ACL injuries often require orthopedic surgery to fix the damaged ligament; however, non-operative procedures such as activity modification and physical therapy may also be employed to reduce pain and improve strength. After ACL repair surgery, strength, balance and flexibility will gradually be built back to pre–injury levels with the help of a physical therapist.
